Guggman Haus Brewing Co. Claims Gold Medal
at the Great American Beer Festival®

Winner’s Milk Jug Stout Wins Prestigious Brewing Honor

in Sweet Stout or Cream Stout Category

Indianapolis, IN • October 8th, 2022— Guggman Haus Brewing Co. won a gold medal at the 2022 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition. Presented by the Brewers Association, GABF is the nation’s largest commercial beer competition and recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States.

Guggman Haus Brewing Co. was recognized in the Sweet Stout or Cream Stout beer-style category for its Winner’s Milk Jug Stout, a milk stout that offers a balanced creaminess complemented by notes of malt & chocolate from a mix of seven different malts. This milk stout started as a homebrew recipe tested and refined in the owners’ basement before they opened Guggman Haus Brewing Co. in 2019. Guggman Haus Brewing Co. is a family-friendly taproom located just northwest of downtown in Indianapolis, IN that specializes in brewing modern and experimental beer styles in a welcoming retreat. Guggman Haus Brewing Co. is co-owned and operated by twin sisters Abby Gorman and Courtney Guggenberger and their husbands, Ryan and Derek respectively.

“After years of refining this recipe to find the perfect balance between roastiness and creaminess, we’re proud and humbled that it’s gained national recognition. We’re thrilled to be able to offer Winner’s Milk Jug year-round in our taproom to our fellow beer drinkers,” said Derek Guggenberger, Co-owner and Director of Brewing Operations at Guggman Haus Brewing Co.

The top three winners in the competition’s 98 beer categories covering 177 different beer styles were announced October 8 at the Great American Beer Festival awards ceremony held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.

The 2022 GABF competition winners were selected by an international panel of 235 expert judges from 9,904 entries, plus 94 Collaboration and 35 Pro-Am entries, received from 2,154 U.S. breweries.

“Each year the Great American Beer Festival showcases the best that American brewers have to offer,” said Chris Williams, competition director, Great American Beer Festival. “With more than 9,900 entries, this year’s competition was the most competitive to date. Congratulations to all the winners who truly demonstrated why the U.S. is the best brewing nation in the world.”
