Hiring:Coffee Haus Barista
Reports To: Coffee Shop Manager
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Part-time, Weekends Required

Summary: The barista is responsible for providing a welcoming customer experience to all guests! They educate customers on the menu, make recommendations, take customer orders, and create each ordered drink or food item. They demonstrate knowledge of all drinks and food items offered, and have an in-depth understanding of how to create coffee drinks and work the espresso machine. The barista keeps the facility clean, items stocked, and has a good understanding of the POS system. To be successful in this role, a barista must have great customer service skills, knowledge of brewing methods and specialty drinks, and a motivation to keep the shop clean. They must be able to multi-task, work well under-pressure and be able to represent the company in the best way possible!
The barista should be flexible to work various shifts throughout the weekly schedule. The Coffee Haus is an extension of Guggman Haus Brewing Co. and the Cabin Kitchen.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

Develops a clear understanding of coffee and espresso drinks and preparation methods; understands pertinent details of all menu items offered (ie ingredients, cup sizes, milk amounts, etc.)

Develops clear understanding of the company values, history and overall flow of all the spaces within Guggman Haus (ie the beer garden, taproom, event spaces, etc)

Greets all customers with timely, friendly, personalized service to contribute to their overall guest experience; Ensures that all customers are educated on the menu items

Understands the register and accurately takes guests’ orders

Accurately and efficiently prepares coffee drinks, beer, and food items to fulfill customer orders

Restocks shelves when necessary and helps with inventory tracking as needed

Completes daily opening and closing procedures as assigned on checklist

Maintains clean spaces both at the coffee bar and in the guests spaces; (ie bathrooms, main floor, basement, and outside).

Busses tables as needed; assures dishes are cleaned and put away

Reports potential safety hazards as well as any concerns or guests complaints to the manager on duty.

Checks customer identification before serving beer and follows all state and federal alcohol laws

May train new staff with guidance from management

Maintains ATC serving certification and any other required certifications

Maintains clear and open communication with staff; represents Guggman Haus and the Coffee Haus in the best way possible
QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be 21 years of age; Maintains ATC serving certification and any other required certifications

Some experience in the coffee industry or service industry preferred

Ability to work well as a team with other staff members

Ability to multi-task and willingness to take initiative

Must be results oriented with the ability to meet the required timelines

Must be knowledgeable of and adhere to local health codes

Ability to adequately communicate with team and customers

Understanding of basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and ServSafe requirements

Ability to work flexible morning and weekend hours

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the barista must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for long periods of time, sometimes in tight spaces. They must be able to exchange accurate information with other individuals in the office and taproom floor. They must regularly lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this Job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually high. The individual must be able to work in an environment with frequent temperature changes.
